I’m a Computer Vision Engineer who enjoys turning complex visual data into seamless, real-world user experiences, especially on mobile. My work sits at the intersection of machine learning and iOS development, where I not only build intelligent models but also bring them directly into users’ hands through polished, high-performance apps.
In one of my recent projects, I developed a real-time object detection system for an iOS app designed to assist with indoor navigation. Using a lightweight deep learning model optimized with Core ML, the app could identify doors, signage, and obstacles on-device with minimal latency. I worked end-to-end on this project from training and pruning the model in Python to integrating it into Swift using AVFoundation for live camera input. The result was a smooth, responsive experience that worked fully offline, which was critical for accessibility.
Another project I’m particularly proud of involved building an augmented reality feature for a retail app. I implemented a custom computer vision pipeline that estimated surface geometry and lighting conditions, allowing virtual furniture to be placed realistically in a user’s living space. By combining ARKit with a semantic segmentation model, the app could distinguish floors from walls and prevent objects from clipping through real-world structures. This significantly improved user engagement and conversion rates.
I’ve also worked on a gesture recognition system for a fitness app, where the goal was to provide real-time feedback on exercise form. I designed a pose estimation model and integrated it into an iOS app that analyzed body movements frame-by-frame, offering corrective suggestions during workouts. One challenge was maintaining accuracy across different lighting conditions and camera angles, which I addressed through data augmentation and careful model tuning.
What drives me is the challenge of bridging cutting-edge research with practical applications. I enjoy optimizing models for edge devices, debugging performance bottlenecks, and crafting intuitive user interfaces that make advanced technology feel natural. Whether it’s deploying neural networks efficiently on mobile hardware or refining the last details of an app’s interaction design, I’m motivated by building products that people genuinely find useful.
I’m always looking to push the boundaries of what’s possible with computer vision on mobile and to create experiences that feel almost like magic, but are grounded in solid engineering.
